Overview:

Cross-functional teams mean diversity. Diversity can be positive or negative. With the right use of ritual design, we can ensure it is positive. The right ritual bridges communication and sets up tones and conditions for the team to do their best work together.

I ran a paid hands-on design challenge for diverse disciplines to work together. I used ritual techniques to set the tone and conditions. In the beginning, we share goals, hope, and fear of the event. We then collaboratively selected a few team conditions/rules that we think beneficial for us to thrive. Throughout the design challenge, a few more other team building tricks were introduced for them to try.
